About

From a young age, I have always had a passion for working with my hands. When I was a young boy, my dad undertook his first major renovation project, remodeling the kitchen in the family home. From building the saw bench to ripping the plywood for the kitchen cabinets, I've always had my hands in woodworking. Whether helping to hold the boards as they came across the table saw or fitting the pieces together to form the cabinets.  As the years wore on, my passion continued to grow. As a teenager, I attended vocational school and further refined my skills. As an adult I loved watching Norm build his projects on the New Yankee Workshop.  Later after starting a family, I took several woodworking classes with world renowned instructors like Phil Lowe at the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts, Will Neptune and Bob Van Dyke. Through these classes I broke the Power Tool Woodworking habits and learned to build furniture with a mixture of Power tools and hand tools.

Now I yearn for the quiet time in the shop working a finely figured piece of Cherry or Black Walnut with a hand plane and cutting perfectly fitted joints with dovetail saws and chisels. For me, there is no better feeling than building a finely crafted piece of furniture with hand cut joinery custom fitted and set to hold together for generations to come.

I work closely with my customers to design that perfect piece of furniture or custom cabinet to fit the décor for the intended environment. From hand selecting the materials, custom fitting the joinery and applying the finish, I strive to build furniture and cabinetry that will last a lifetime and be handed down to future generations.

Our Philosophy

Here at Windy Hill Woodworking, prior to starting construction of any piece of furniture or cabinetry, we start at the drawing board. While we use technology to save time, attention to detail is paramount in designing your project.  Only after you as the customer have approved all drawings will construction start. We employ old world tried and true building methods such as mortise and tenon, pinned drawer boring, wedged through tenons and dovetail drawer boxes. These methods have been proven over the centuries to last several lifetimes guaranteeing heirloom quality craftsmanship that can be handed down to future generations.

While we utilize old world skills and techniques along with modern power tools we do not use any mass production techniques. Each piece is formed, dry fitted and hand polished prior to assembly to assure beauty in construction and lasting functionality.
